The Light is On For You every Wednesday this Lent, from 6:30 to 8pm, in all parishes in the Archdiocese, including St. Mary’s and Blessed Sacrament. The Light Is On For You is an opportunity to encounter the Sacrament of Reconciliation (or Penance or Confession) and to receive God’s tender mercy as He welcomes you with open arms. Last year, many of you shared with our priests that The Light Is On For You was your first time to Confession in many years or even decades! If it’s been a while for you, don’t wait any longer.
For some, Confession can be scary and even embarrassing. We may be too nervous or consider ourselves unforgiveable. Yet with confidence Pope Francis reminds us: “How many times in my pastoral ministry have I heard it said, ‘Father, I have many sins,’ and I have always pleaded, ‘Don’t be afraid; go to him; he is waiting for you; he will take care of everything.’ We hear many offers from the world around us, but let us take up God’s offer instead: his is a caress of love."
