I am very blessed and privileged to have the opportunity to invite students, families and members of our community into a closer relationship with Jesus through the sharing of the power of Jesus’ love through proclaiming the joyful message of the Gospel. Faith Formation students and their families are encouraged to join our parish community weekly to gather and pray together celebrating God's enduring love through their participation in the celebration of the Mass each Sunday. It is a blessed privilege for us as Catholics. The focus and strength of our lives is found in the celebration of the Eucharist. Our belief that the Eucharist is not merely a sign or symbol of Jesus, but rather the real body and blood of Christ. We are open to receiving this real presence and to becoming the body of Christ in the world. Our full, active participation in the Eucharist brings us closer together as disciples of Jesus Christ.
The 2016-2017 schedules and curriculum have been solidified and are available to you on the following pages of the www site. We are excited to have Jen Duffey join us as the new Youth Minister and look forward to watching our youth ministry grow under her tutelage.
We are offering comprehensive catechist training to all our new and returning catechists. This will equip all of our catechists with an amazing toolkit of strategies, techniques and resources allowing them the ability to share the faith with confidence and grace. We are so grateful for the number of volunteers who have responded to the call to share the gift of faith with others. They are truly making a difference in the hearts and minds of our young people. We are grateful for the time they spend preparing for their weekly lessons and engaging each of our students, helping them to be nourished spiritually and to grow closer to God.
Once again, we are excited to be offering Alpha, an adult bible study program. Alpha for Catholics provides ten basic sessions to share our faith in an environment designed to be friendly and inviting so that participants can explore our faith in a manner that relates to questions they have. A simple meal will be enjoyed with one another as we meet for 10-12 sessions and participate on retreat together.
We are grateful to the families in our parish who continue to support our religious education programs as a means of building up the Catholic Church in the mission of Christ through cooperation and faith. We hope to continue to provide more opportunities for children and families to attend our religious education programs by providing more options for every grade level and by allowing families to register their children for classes at either Blessed Sacrament or St. Mary Parish. We are hopeful to be able to offer enriching activities for parents and young adults, coffee and conversation offering opportunities to grow as disciples. We are excited to be a part of creating a stronger, more vibrant faith community among our parishes.
